Bill Pullman expressed immense pride in his son Lewis Pullman’s burgeoning acting career, especially as Lewis continues to carve out his own niche in the film industry. In an exclusive interview with Us Weekly, Bill proudly supported Lewis at the premiere of “The Testament of Ann Lee,” where he praised his son’s diverse choices in film projects.

“I’m really amazed that he’s having very diverse choices about what movies he’s involved in,” said Bill, reflecting on Lewis’s path in the cinematic landscape. He described “The Testament of Ann Lee,” which was released in theaters on December 25, as an adventurous film that allows an actor to explore new characters. In this film, Lewis portrays William Lee, the husband of Amanda Seyfried’s character, who is referred to as the female Christ by her followers during the Shaker Movement.

As an established actor himself, known for iconic roles in films such as “Casper” and “Independence Day,” Bill expressed excitement about seeing Lewis showcase his Yorkshire accent during the film’s screening. He emphasized that his son has a unique approach to his craft, making Bill even prouder of him.

Having launched his career in the mid-1980s, Bill Pullman has been a staple of American cinema, taking on various roles that have showcased his range as an actor. He remarked that Lewis has developed a strong sense of direction in his career: “He remembers things better than I do. He has got a strong rudder in the water himself.”

Bill also shared insights about their collaboration on the upcoming “Spaceballs 2,” where he and Lewis worked together for three months in Australia. He fondly recalled how the original “Spaceballs,” released in 1987, played a significant role in his own career, and now it’s a special experience to watch his son achieve similar milestones at the same age.

This familial bond extends beyond their professional lives, as Bill noted that he has never forgotten his wedding anniversary, which conveniently coincides with the premiere of the original “Spaceballs.” This dual celebration has become an integral part of their lives, adding a lighthearted touch to their special moments.

Lewis Pullman has established a successful acting career since beginning in short films in 2013, gaining recognition for roles in films like “Battle of the Sexes” and “Bad Times at the El Royale,” with a major breakthrough occurring when he starred as Bob in “Top Gun: Maverick.” He has also appeared in series like “Lessons in Chemistry” and “Outer Range,” joining the Marvel universe in “Thunderbolts” earlier this year.

In June 2024, it was announced that Bill and fellow actor Rick Moranis would reprise their roles in “Spaceballs 2,” with Lewis confirmed to participate in the sequel slated for a 2027 release. This new chapter promises to continue the legacy of comedy that has captivated audiences for decades.

The Pullman family’s dedication to their craft demonstrates the importance of pursuing one’s passions while maintaining familial connections in the fast-paced world of acting. Their journey together serves as an inspiration to others navigating similar paths in the entertainment industry.
