Superstar Simone Biles is set for her final two opportunities to secure gold medals at the Paris Olympics as the gymnastics events conclude on Monday. The 27-year-old gymnast recently clinched gold in the women’s vault final on Saturday, bringing her total Olympic gold medals to seven, along with multiple accolades overall. Biles also previously claimed gold in the all-around and team events.
Her participation in the Paris Games is described as a “redemption tour,” a reflection of her comeback after she withdrew from the Tokyo Games three years ago due to experiencing the “twisties,” which significantly impacted her career trajectory.
Biles is gearing up to compete in the balance beam and floor exercise finals, where she will face stiff competition, notably from her teammate Suni Lee.
Biles’ upcoming schedule is as follows:
Balance Beam Final: August 5
The final is set to be a thrilling contest between Biles and fellow U.S. gymnast Suni Lee, both known for their impressive beam routines throughout the season. Biles previously earned bronze on the balance beam in both the 2016 and 2020 Olympics, while Lee aims for her first Olympic medal in this event. The balance beam final is scheduled to begin at 5:36 a.m. CT, with streaming available on E! at 4:45 a.m. CT and NBC 5 at 8:30 a.m. CT.
Floor Exercise Final: August 5
This event will mark the conclusion of the women’s gymnastics competition at these Olympics, with Biles and Team USA’s Jordan Chiles both qualifying. Biles won gold in the floor exercise at the 2016 Games but missed out during the 2020 final due to her withdrawal, which allowed Jade Carey to win gold. Carey, who faced difficulties earlier in the competition, will not participate in the final due to a fall during qualifiers. The floor exercise final is scheduled for 7:20 a.m. CT, with streaming options on E! at 4:45 a.m. CT and on NBC 5 at 8:30 a.m. CT.
The drama continues at the Paris Olympics, featuring a total of 329 medal events across 32 sports.
