Biden’s Big Moment: Kicking Off the DNC in Chicago

The first day of the Democratic National Convention (DNC) has started in Chicago, with President Biden set to take the stage as the main speaker. A complete schedule of speakers for the evening has been released by the Democratic National Convention Committee, with events running from 6:15 p.m. to 11:15 p.m. ET, or 5:15 p.m. to 10:15 p.m. CT. Key figures expected to speak include:

– Minyon Moore, Chair of the 2024 Democratic National Convention Committee, will call the convention to order.
– Jaime R. Harrison, Chairman of the Democratic National Committee, and Brandon Johnson, the Mayor of Chicago, will also deliver remarks.
– Highlights include a ceremonial vote for the Vice Presidential nominee and welcoming remarks by Minnesota Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan.
– Other speakers include U.S. Representatives Lauren Underwood, Robert Garcia, and notable union leaders such as Lee Saunders and Elizabeth H. Shuler.
– Michigan State Senator Mallory McMorrow will discuss “Project 2025,” with additional remarks from U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina M. Raimondo, New York Governor Kathy Hochul, and UAW President Shawn Fain.
– High-profile speakers also include Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and Senator Raphael G. Warnock.
