Former President Joe Biden attended the lie in state for Minnesota Representative Melissa Hortman, her husband Mark, and their golden retriever Gilbert on Friday at the Capitol in St. Paul. In addition to honoring the Hortmans, Biden stopped by to visit Minnesota Senator John Hoffman and his wife Yvette at a local hospital. Both were victims of gun violence, suffering serious injuries in the same attack that took the lives of the Hortmans. Yvette provided an update on John’s condition, expressing relief that he is recovering and becoming more mobile.
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and his wife Gwen were also present, among the numerous citizens and officials gathering to show their support and solidarity during this difficult time.
