Today marks a special occasion as global music icon Beyoncé celebrates her 43rd birthday. The superstar, known as “Queen Bey,” has much to reflect on during this momentous day.
Beyoncé Giselle Knowles was born on September 4, 1981, in Houston, Texas, where she was raised. Her mother, Celestine “Tina” Knowles, is of Louisiana Creole descent, while her father, Matthew Knowles, is African American. Tina worked as a costume designer and hair stylist, and Matthew was a professional record manager. Beyoncé has a younger sister, Solange, who is also a talented singer, songwriter, and actress. Both sisters exhibited their performance skills at an early age.
Beyoncé began her education at Parker Elementary School, then attended the Welch Middle School of Fine Arts. She completed her high school education at the Kinder High School for the Performing and Visual Arts and Alief Elsik High School.
In a year filled with achievements, Beyoncé released her much-talked-about album, “Cowboy Carter,” which blends country influences. The album’s singles, “Texas Hold ‘Em” and “16 Carriages,” gained significant attention after being featured in a surprise Super Bowl commercial. Even though Beyoncé describes “Cowboy Carter” as not being a country album, both singles reached the top of the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, making history as Beyoncé became the first Black woman to achieve this milestone with “Texas Hold ‘Em.”
Recently, Beyoncé also made headlines by launching her own whiskey brand, “SirDavis.” She shared that this brand is a tribute to her great-grandfather, Davis, and reflects her personal appreciation for whiskey.
