Rumors are swirling regarding the potential remastering of Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas, largely fueled by the growing excitement surrounding Amazon’s successful adaptation of the Fallout franchise into a television show set in New Vegas. Bethesda’s head, Todd Howard, was recently asked about these remasters during an interview with Dexerto and shared insights that hint at positive developments regarding these beloved titles.

While Howard remained tight-lipped about specifics, he acknowledged the community’s desire for modern adaptations of both games. “The first thing is, we get it, we see all those comments… We’re working on a whole bunch of stuff, and we look forward to the day that we can reveal them,” he stated. This response suggests that Bethesda is indeed considering remasters of these iconic games.

Howard expressed a preference for a surprise release strategy similar to the approach taken with the Oblivion Remastered version, where players can instantly rediscover a classic experience. “In general, I prefer to wait. When you launch a game, you’ve downloaded it, it’s all there, you press play, what are you thinking? What do you already know?” he explained, emphasizing the desire to evoke nostalgia as players dive back into the game world.

This method has proven successful in the past; many gamers eagerly returned to Oblivion, highlighting the continued passion for Bethesda’s expansive game worlds. As excitement builds, particularly with Fallout season 2 set to premiere on December 17, fans remain hopeful that announcements regarding remastered versions of Fallout 3 and New Vegas could be forthcoming, possibly during events like The Game Awards.

With Todd Howard’s track record of reinvigorating classic games, there is a sense of optimism that Fallout fans may soon be able to experience these beloved titles in a refreshed format.
