Bennifer’s Love Story Takes a Tornado Turn: Divorce Confirmed!

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are set to divorce after just over two years of marriage, as confirmed by Variety. Lopez filed for divorce on Tuesday, August 20, in Los Angeles County Superior Court, with the official separation date noted as April 26.

Lopez, 55, and Affleck, 52, initially tied the knot in a Las Vegas ceremony in July 2022, rekindling their romance from two decades earlier, which had been famously labeled “Bennifer” by tabloids in the early 2000s. They celebrated their union again with a larger ceremony in Georgia on August 20, 2022, marking the two-year anniversary of their marriage.

Their on-screen collaborations include the poorly received romantic comedy “Gigli” in 2003 and Kevin Smith’s “Jersey Girl” in 2004. By the time “Jersey Girl” was released, Lopez and Affleck had already ended their engagement and parted ways.

Both parties experienced marriages and subsequent divorces during the years apart — Lopez with Marc Anthony and Affleck with Jennifer Garner. The pair resumed their public relationship roughly three years ago, with Lopez frequently sharing updates about her engagement and marriage through social media and her newsletter.

Lopez explored themes of their relationship in her recent album, “This Is Me … Now,” a follow-up to her 2002 release, “This Is Me … Then.” Affleck made an appearance in her film “This Is Me … Now: A Love Story,” a 65-minute musical project released on Prime Video in February, where he portrayed an aged anchorman.

Throughout their second relationship and marriage, Lopez and Affleck actively promoted each other’s projects, attending events for titles such as “This Is Me … Now: A Love Story,” “The Mother,” “Air,” “The Last Duel,” and “Marry Me.” They were also seen together at the Golden Globes earlier this year.

In May, Lopez announced the cancellation of her summer “This Is Me… Now” tour, stating she needed time to focus on her children, family, and close friends.
