The Cincinnati Bengals waived former second-round pick Jackson Carman, an offensive tackle, along with 10 other players on Friday. The team made the roster cuts public in the afternoon.
Carman, selected in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft from Clemson, has faced challenges in securing a stable position on the Bengals’ offensive line. During his rookie year in 2021, he started six games but has not been in the starting lineup since.
The former Fairfield High School athlete fell down the depth chart after the Bengals brought in veterans Ted Karras, Alex Cappa, and Orlando Brown Jr. in recent offseasons, and they also drafted former Georgia tackle Amarius Mims in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft.
Carman and fellow offensive lineman Eric Miller were among those waived as the Bengals work to finalize their roster following preseason play. Additionally, cornerback Allan George, who saw action in four games for the Bengals in 2022, was also cut.
The complete list of players released by the Bengals includes:
– WR Hakeem Butler
– HB Noah Cain
– OT Jackson Carman
– DE Andre Carter
– LB Aaron Casey
– S Michael Dowell
– CB Allan George
– WR Kwamie Lassiter II
– QB Rocky Lombardi
– G Eric Miller
– DT Joshua Pryor
With the preseason now concluded after three games, the Bengals will prepare for their season opener against the New England Patriots on September 8.
