Bengals Battle Browns: Can Burrow Break the Road Curse?

The Cincinnati Bengals are looking to shift the momentum in Week 7 as they aim for a crucial road victory against the Cleveland Browns. A win would elevate their season record to 3-4, while a loss could potentially signify the end of their playoff hopes at 2-5.

Historically, the Bengals have struggled to secure road victories against the Browns, with their last win in Cleveland dating back to 2017. Joe Burrow has yet to achieve this feat.

On a positive note, Burrow displayed impressive form in recent games, boasting a 71.6% completion rate with 1,578 yards, 12 touchdowns, and only two interceptions. Receivers Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins have contributed significantly, and running back Chase Brown is averaging 5.5 yards per carry.

However, concerns persist regarding the Bengals’ defense. Although the unit showed improvement during their Week 6 win over the New York Giants, with players like Sheldon Rankins returning from injury, issues with pass rush and fundamental play persist.

Offensively, the Bengals face challenges as well. The offensive line, which was performing well, faltered against the Giants, and now they must face the formidable Myles Garrett.

The Browns, currently struggling at 1-5, have their own offensive problems. Quarterback Deshaun Watson has struggled, throwing five touchdowns and three interceptions over six games, averaging just 5.1 yards per attempt. The recent trade of Amari Cooper and the uncertain return of star running back Nick Chubb may add to the Browns’ difficulties.

For Bengals fans, the hope lies in the team’s defense learning from the early-season struggles and improving now that they are at their healthiest—aside from the loss of Dax Hill.

Comparatively, this matchup highlights a significant disparity between quarterbacks. While the Browns have kept some of their recent losses close, many expect Burrow to lead the Bengals to victory in a tightly contested game.

Prediction: Bengals 27, Browns 24
