Jeff Garcia, the distinguished stand-up comedian and cherished voice of Sheen Estévez in “The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius,” has tragically passed away at the age of 50. The heartfelt news was announced by his son, fellow comedian Jojo Garcia, through an emotional Instagram post on Wednesday. Jojo reflected on the unique talent of his father, calling him a hero and emphasizing the significant mark he left on the worlds of voice acting and comedy.

While the specific cause of Garcia’s death has not been officially revealed, sources suggest that he experienced a brain aneurysm earlier this year, which led to a stroke and a subsequent collapsed lung.

Debbie Derryberry, known for voicing the titular character in “Jimmy Neutron,” took to social media to remember her friend and colleague. She fondly recalled their recent encounter at a convention, describing Garcia as the funniest person in the room, underscoring the warmth and humor he brought to those around him.

Born in 1975, Garcia embarked on his career in stand-up comedy in the early 1990s. He made guest appearances in various television series, including “Caroline in the City” and “Dangerous Minds.” However, his breakout role as Sheen Estévez in the animated feature “Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius” solidified his position in the entertainment industry. Known for its humor and creativity, the film garnered an Academy Award nomination for Best Animated Feature, leading to a television spinoff that aired from 2002 to 2006, with Garcia reprising his role across all 55 episodes. Following that success, Sheen starred in the Nickelodeon series “Planet Sheen,” which aired from 2010 to 2013.

Garcia collaborated with “Jimmy Neutron” co-creator Steve Oedekerk on various projects, including the animated film “Barnyard,” where he voiced Pip, and its television adaptation “Back at the Barnyard.” His work in the industry earned him an Annie Award in 2004 for his performance in the “Jimmy Neutron” episode titled “Nightmare in Retroville.” In addition, he provided voices for characters in notable animated films like “Happy Feet” and both “Rio” films, showcasing a diverse and impressive portfolio.

In the later years of his career, Garcia devoted himself primarily to stand-up comedy, with his final live-action role appearing in the upcoming film “Holy Cash.” His last voice performance as Sheen was featured in the video game “Nicktoons & The Dice of Destiny.”

Garcia’s passing marks a profound loss for his fans and the entertainment community at large. His vibrant legacy as a multifaceted performer and the joy he spread through his compelling characters and comedic talent will undoubtedly continue to resonate with audiences around the world.
