Belmont University continues to establish itself as a powerhouse in NCAA Division I basketball, with both the men’s and women’s teams achieving a significant milestone by winning 20 or more games for ten consecutive seasons, a feat unmatched by any other institution in the nation. This achievement underscores the Bruins’ consistent excellence and dedication to the sport.

Since the start of the 2020 season, Belmont has not only amassed an impressive 146 victories, ranking them in the top 20 nationally, but they have also secured 20 conference championships since 2006, which includes eight tournament titles and twelve regular season wins. Only Gonzaga and Kansas have accrued more conference titles during this period. Additionally, Belmont leads Tennessee in total wins, boasting 458 victories since 2007—outpacing notable teams like the University of Tennessee, Memphis, and Vanderbilt.

In the 2024-25 season, Belmont displayed its competitiveness within the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC), finishing in the top three for 12 statistical categories, and ranking notably in assists per game, three-point field goal percentage, and three-point field goals made. The Bruins are guided by head coach Casey Alexander, who is recognized as one of a select group of six NCAA Division I coaches to achieve the milestone of 20 or more wins in nine consecutive seasons.

As Belmont anticipates their matchup against Toledo on Wednesday, they remain optimistic about continuing their strong performance this season, having already secured a win against Saint Francis, where four Bruins contributed in double figures, highlighting the team’s depth and talent.

Belmont’s robust track record in postseason appearances includes nine entries into the NCAA Tournament, a testament to their competitiveness on a national stage. Additionally, Belmont has earned recognition for its academic achievements, with the most Academic All-America selections in NCAA history since 2001 as well as being the only program to maintain a spot on the NCAA Academic Progress Rate Honor Roll every single year.

As the Bruins prepare to take on Toledo, there’s a strong air of optimism surrounding the program, thanks to the presence of 11 returning players, including standouts who have been recognized on preseason watch lists. Their resilience and history of success in the NCAA Tournament and recent victories illustrate that Belmont remains a formidable presence in college basketball, ready for another impactful season ahead.
