Janet Caperna, a former assistant to Cameron Diaz, shared her experiences working with the actress during an interview on Page Six’s “Virtual Reali-Tea.” Caperna fondly recalled her time with the “Charlie’s Angels” star, particularly in her role at Avaline, the organic wine brand co-founded by Diaz and Katherine Power in 2020.
Caperna revealed that she loved her job at Avaline and remains enthusiastic about the wine it produces. She emphasized the importance of networking among assistants in Los Angeles, noting that maintaining contact with colleagues can greatly assist in their roles—especially when seeking recommendations for makeup artists or other vendors.
Founded in 2020, Avaline has gained significant traction, launching with a Spanish white and a French rosé wine, and subsequently expanding its offerings to include a variety of red blends and sparkling wines made from organic grapes sourced from Italy, France, and Spain. The brand saw remarkable success, generating over $33 million in sales last year and becoming the 112th largest wine brand in the US, as reported by Forbes.
After stepping back from Hollywood in 2014 and later declaring her retirement, Diaz shifted her focus to her family and growing Avaline. However, she made a return to acting, starring alongside Jamie Foxx in the upcoming Netflix film “Back in Action,” while continuing to juggle her roles as a mother to her two young children, Raddix and Cardinal.
This lifespan of her career illustrates a balance between professional aspirations and personal life, depicting Diaz as a multi-faceted individual navigating the complexities of motherhood, business, and stardom.
The story not only highlights the growth of Diaz’s wine brand but also showcases her commitment to family and her dynamic presence in the entertainment industry.
