Connor Bedard played a pivotal role in the Chicago Blackhawks’ thrilling 5-3 comeback victory over the Anaheim Ducks, snapping a five-game losing streak. Bedard scored the decisive goal at 9:55 of the third period, added an empty-netter, and supplied two assists. The Blackhawks overcame an early three-goal deficit to achieve the win.
The offensive effort was not solely Bedard’s—Tyler Bertuzzi, Ryan Greene, and Colton Dach also contributed to the score sheet. Chicago showcased their ability to capitalize on power plays, converting two of their four opportunities while successfully defending against all three power plays awarded to Anaheim.
The game began on a shaky note for Chicago, as the Ducks jumped to a 3-0 lead within the first period, with Cutter Gauthier scoring a goal and adding an assist. Chris Kreider and Olen Zellweger also found the net for Anaheim, while Troy Terry extended his point streak to seven games with two assists. Blackhawks goalie Petr Mrazek, in his first match against Chicago since being traded to Detroit, left the game with an undisclosed injury after saving 13 out of 16 shots.
The Blackhawks began their comeback when Bertuzzi scored with just over two minutes left in the first period, setting the tone for a powerful response. Greene and Dach followed up in the second period, tying the game 3-3 with a power-play goal.
Spencer Knight, who started for Chicago, recovered from a rough beginning to make 23 saves and secure the win. Bedard’s nimble goal, which came after coaxing a turnover from Alex Killorn, put the Blackhawks in front for the first time. He sealed the victory with an empty-net goal with just 1:55 remaining.
Looking ahead, the Ducks will visit the St. Louis Blues on Monday, while the Blackhawks will embark on a four-game road trip, starting with a matchup against the Vegas Golden Knights on Tuesday. This victory not only boosts the Blackhawks’ morale but also demonstrates their resilience and potential for future games.
