Connor Bedard, the talented young forward for the Chicago Blackhawks, is set to miss another game due to illness, specifically the flu, as confirmed by the team prior to their matchup against the Edmonton Oilers. This news follows a brief return to the ice, where Bedard managed to score two points in his second game back after an injury hiatus.
At just 20 years old, Bedard has made significant strides in his third NHL season since being selected as the first overall pick in the 2023 draft. He has so far accumulated 19 goals and 27 assists, amassing a total of 46 points across 33 games this season. However, his performance was interrupted by a shoulder injury sustained during a game against the St. Louis Blues on December 12, which sidelined him for nearly a month.
He made his comeback on January 9 in a game against the Washington Capitals and participated in both games of a back-to-back series, including one against the Nashville Predators on January 10. The 2023 Calder Trophy winner has impressive career stats, totaling 64 goals and 110 assists for 174 points in 183 games.
While his current illness may be a setback, Bedard’s talent and determination indicate a promising future, and fans remain hopeful for his swift return to the ice. His ability to bounce back from injuries and contribute significantly highlights his potential as a rising star in the NHL.
