Becky Lynch has made a triumphant return to WWE television after being written off in May 2024, following a steel cage match defeat to Liv Morgan. Originally planning for a brief hiatus, Lynch intended to take three months off during the summer as her contract ended.
In an interview with Lauren Coates from Variety, Lynch shared her experiences during the time away, remarking, “I took what I thought was going to be three months off during the summer when my contract ended. It seemed like a good time to take a little break and get some stuff done.” During this period, she filmed roles for projects like “Star Trek” and “Happy Gilmore.”
Although there were discussions about her return around the Royal Rumble, a last-minute skin condition delayed her comeback. Reflecting on her strategy as she looked forward to WrestleMania, Lynch expressed, “It made sense — especially if I could take Bayley out and ruin her dreams. It felt doubly brilliant.”
Lynch finally made her return at WrestleMania 41 (Night Two), where she teamed up with Lyra Valkyria, successfully claiming the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles. This comeback not only showcases her resilience but also amplifies the excitement in women’s wrestling, especially with the interplay of rivalries leading to major events like WrestleMania.
Lynch’s journey highlights the balance between personal growth and professional commitments, reminding fans that even their favorite superstars face challenges off-screen. Her return adds a fresh dynamic to WWE programming, proving that sometimes a break is the perfect catalyst for a powerful comeback.
