The Chicago Bears have bolstered their roster by signing two veteran players: linebacker Tanoh Kpassagnon and cornerback Tre Flowers. This move comes as the team seeks to enhance its defensive capabilities.
Kpassagnon, now 31, was originally a second-round selection by the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2017 NFL Draft. After completing his initial four-year contract, which was valued at over $4 million, he signed a two-year deal with the New Orleans Saints in 2021. Although Kpassagnon faced challenges in 2024, only appearing in three games and recording a single tackle, he brings experience and depth to the Bears’ linebacker corps.
Meanwhile, Flowers, 30, also adds veteran presence to the secondary. A fifth-round pick by the Seattle Seahawks in 2018, Flowers has had a journey through several teams. He was waived by Seattle, subsequently claimed by the Cincinnati Bengals, and then signed by the Atlanta Falcons. Last season, he played for both the Indianapolis Colts and the Jacksonville Jaguars, managing to get on the field for five games and totaling four tackles.
In addition to these signings, the Bears have activated wide receiver Jahdae Walker and running back Ian Wheeler from the Non-Football Injury list while waiving defensive back Alex Cook and defensive lineman Jereme Robinson. This roster shuffle reflects the Bears’ commitment to refining their team structure as they move through the season.
These additions may provide a fresh boost, with both Kpassagnon and Flowers bringing a wealth of NFL experience that could benefit younger teammates and contribute positively to the Bears’ defensive strategies.
