Rose Byrne recently addressed her partner Bobby Cannavale’s notable absence from the Golden Globes, where she won her first award. During her acceptance speech, Byrne humorously revealed that Cannavale was not in attendance because he was at a reptile expo in New Jersey, purchasing a bearded dragon for their children.

In a follow-up discussion with The New York Times, Byrne clarified that her comments were not intended to portray Cannavale as a reptile enthusiast. “Never in my life will I announce something like that on a major awards show again,” she reflected, emphasizing that the bearded dragon was indeed meant for their two sons, not for Cannavale himself.

Previously, Byrne had made a light-hearted remark on The Tonight Show, describing missing the expo as “such a parent fail,” given that the family had committed to getting their children a pet.

Despite the foray into animal ownership, Byrne later announced that the new addition to their family has been thriving. “We’ve got the guy. He’s really cute, and it’s going well,” she shared with Extra.

Byrne and Cannavale, who have been together since 2012, have two children together and often refer to each other in terms typically reserved for married couples, despite never tying the knot. This whimsical anecdote showcases the couple’s commitment to family life and their playful approach to parenting, resonating with many who appreciate the balance of humor and responsibility in family dynamics.
