Baylor’s Stunning Surge: A Victory to Remember

In a dominant performance on Saturday at McLane Stadium, Baylor secured a decisive 45-17 victory over Kansas, effectively ending the Jayhawks’ bowl aspirations. While wins by Colorado and Arizona State eliminated Baylor from the Big 12 Championship Game consideration, the Bears showcased their strength by scoring on their first four drives of the second half.

Baylor quarterback threw for an impressive 310 yards and four touchdowns while also contributing with an additional 192 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns. This performance allowed him to surpass the 1,000-yard mark for the season, solidifying a new freshman record for the Bears, who finished the regular season with a remarkable six-game winning streak, the longest in the program’s history.

Leading 21-10 at halftime, Baylor came out strong in the second half, with touchdowns on their first three possessions, taking a commanding 42-17 lead. This was a noteworthy display against a Kansas team that had previously defeated three ranked opponents.

The Bears’ offensive lineup was clearly on fire, racking up a season-high 603 total yards. The rushing attack was spearheaded by Washington, who raced for 104 yards, and two others also surpassed the century mark in receiving yards. Notable contributions included Baldwin with 119 yards and two touchdowns, and Cameron, who caught eight passes for 102 yards and one touchdown.

Kansas initially took the lead with a 19-yard touchdown run from Devin Neal, but Baylor quickly responded with back-to-back touchdown passes from Robertson to Baldwin that shifted the momentum. Despite a strong effort from Kansas’ Neal, who rushed for 133 yards, and quarterback Jalon Daniels, who passed for 280 yards, the Jayhawks could not keep pace with Baylor’s potent offense.

With this victory, Baylor is set to make its 13th bowl appearance in the last 16 years, demonstrating the program’s resilience and strength under head coach Dave Aranda.

This victory not only highlights Baylor’s explosive capabilities but also sets a hopeful tone for their postseason, where fans and players alike are eager to see how this unstoppable momentum will carry into their upcoming bowl game.
