Baylor Bears Soar to Victory: A Historic Season Finale

In a decisive victory, the Baylor Bears defeated Kansas 45-17 at McLane Stadium, effectively putting an end to the Jayhawks’ bowl aspirations. While the wins from Colorado and Arizona State knocked Baylor out of contention for the Big 12 Championship Game, the Bears managed to finish the regular season on a high note with six consecutive wins, marking the longest end-of-season streak in the program’s history.

Baylor’s performance was highlighted by a standout offensive display, racking up a total of 603 yards. Quarterback Sawyer Robertson threw for 310 yards and four touchdowns while adding 192 rushing yards and two touchdowns himself, pushing him over the 1,000-yard mark for the season and establishing a new freshman record for the Bears.

After leading 21-10 at halftime, Baylor dominated the second half, scoring on their first three drives to extend their lead to 42-17. The Bears showcased impressive depth, with a pair of 100-yard rushers in Washington and a total of two 100-yard receivers, Baldwin and Cameron, each contributing significantly to the team’s success.

Kansas had initially scored the game’s first touchdown with Devin Neal’s 19-yard run, but Baylor quickly responded with two touchdown passes from Robertson to Baldwin. Despite Kansas’ efforts, including quarterback Jalon Daniels throwing for 280 yards, they couldn’t keep up with Baylor’s offensive onslaught.

As bowl selections approach, Baylor will be looking forward to participating in their 13th bowl game in the last 16 years, demonstrating the program’s sustained success under head coach Dave Aranda.

This victory not only reinforces Baylor’s strong finish but also provides momentum heading into the postseason. As the team prepares for their next challenge, they carry the confidence of a potent offense and a resilient defense, promising an exciting bowl game ahead.
