EA’s Battlefield 6 has achieved a significant milestone, surpassing 10 million units sold shortly after its initial release. The information was provided by Rhys Elliott of Alinea Analytics, who revealed in an interview with GI.biz that this estimate encompasses all platforms. The game’s impressive debut saw it selling 7 million copies right out of the gate, but EA has yet to officially confirm any updated sales figures beyond that initial success.

Despite this strong performance, Elliott cautioned that Battlefield 6’s sales will likely not be enough to challenge the dominant position of Activision’s Call of Duty franchise in the market by 2025. Historically, while the Battlefield series has been well-received on PC, the Call of Duty series has established itself as a “multiplatform powerhouse,” consistently performing well across both console and PC markets.

Experts, including Elliott, believe that Battlefield 6 is unlikely to surpass Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 this year, a title that has been a consistent leader in annual US sales charts. This trend appears to be continuing, as no Battlefield game has ever claimed the top spot over a Call of Duty release.

Adding to the buzz around the Battlefield franchise is the recent launch of Redsec, a free battle royale game, which has garnered mixed reviews from users on Steam. Meanwhile, excitement is building for Black Ops 7, which is set to launch on November 14, with Activision recently announcing the preloading and official launch times for the highly anticipated title.

As both franchises continue to develop and release new titles, the competition between them remains fierce, with gamers eager to see how they will shape the FPS landscape in the upcoming months.
