Less than a day after heavy rainfall caused flooding at 4R Electrical Govind Park in Ba, the facility demonstrated an impressive recovery, showcasing the effectiveness of its enhanced turf system. Following a series of downpours that left portions of the field submerged, images circulated widely, raising concerns about the venue’s condition. However, by the subsequent day, the ground had drained remarkably, with no signs of lingering water, just in time for the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua’s inaugural match in Ba next weekend.
Moshim Khan, Ba Town Council’s Special Administrator, emphasized the significance of the quick recovery, pointing to the quality of the park’s design. “You can see how this turf has been designed. There is no waterlogging here. It is so perfectly designed that even during rainy days, you can have games,” he stated, reflecting on the stadium’s resilience.
The newly installed drainage system, part of the recent upgrades, is specifically designed to quickly redirect excess water, ensuring that the field remains playable even during periods of heavy rain. This swift recovery not only reassures stakeholders but also builds excitement for the Drua’s historic first appearance in Ba, promising a top-level rugby experience regardless of weather conditions.
