Barry Manilow has announced that he must postpone his farewell tour due to a recent health diagnosis involving a cancerous spot on his left lung. The celebrated singer-songwriter shared this update through a heartfelt statement on his Facebook page on December 22.

The 82-year-old artist recently completed a series of Christmas concerts at the McCallum Theatre in Palm Desert, a tradition that has seen him raise millions for various nonprofit organizations in the Coachella Valley. Despite feeling fine and expressing gratitude for the support of his fans, Manilow opened up about his recent health struggles. He had endured six weeks of bronchitis, followed by an additional five weeks of relapse. After his doctor recommended an MRI as a precaution, the scan revealed the concerning spot on his lung.

“It’s pure luck (and a great doctor) that it was found so early,” Manilow remarked, emphasizing the positive aspect of early detection. While he has been diagnosed with stage one lung cancer, he shared that the doctors do not believe the condition has spread, and he is currently undergoing tests for further confirmation. Fortunately, he will not require chemotherapy or radiation, instead opting for a recovery plan consisting of rest and lighthearted entertainment at home.

Manilow conveyed his eagerness to recover and return to performing, particularly for his Valentine’s Day weekend concerts at the Westgate Las Vegas, which he described as a long-awaited celebration. He announced the adjustments to his farewell tour schedule, initially set for January 2026, which now includes stops in cities like Tampa, Columbus, and Orlando throughout February and April.

Reflecting on his illustrious career, Manilow had previously expressed concerns about the dwindling number of his musical peers still performing today. Yet, he remains optimistic and in good health, ready to continue sharing his music with fans when the time comes.

The full list of rescheduled tour dates showcases Manilow’s determination to return to the stage, maintaining the excitement surrounding his long-anticipated farewell performances.
