Barcelona’s Young Star Shines in Thrilling League Victory

MADRID — Lamine Yamal’s impressive brace in under 10 minutes propelled Barcelona to a decisive 4-1 triumph over Girona, marking their fifth consecutive win in the Spanish league. The young star’s goals, along with second-half strikes from Dani Olmo and Pedri, maintain Barcelona’s four-point lead at the top of the table.

Atletico Madrid kept pace with a 3-0 victory against last-place Valencia, featuring goals from Antoine Griezmann and new signings Julián Álvarez and Conor Gallagher. Meanwhile, Real Madrid secured a 2-0 win at Real Sociedad with goals from Kylian Mbappé and Vinícius Júnior, while Villarreal also remained in contention with a 2-1 win over Mallorca.

Yamal emphasized the importance of contributing to the team’s success through scoring. His two goals were his second and third of the season, both coming in the first half after he capitalized on defensive mistakes. Olmo scored from a tough angle shortly after halftime, while Pedri rounded out the scoreline with a goal in the 64th minute.

Olmo, despite leaving the match due to a leg injury, made history by becoming the first player to score in his first three league matches for Barcelona since Cesc Fabregas in 2011. Girona’s only goal was scored by Cristhian Stuani in the 80th minute. Barcelona faced a late challenge, playing with 10 men after Ferran Torres was sent off in the 87th minute.

In Atletico’s match against Valencia, Gallagher opened the scoring, followed by Griezmann’s goal, and Álvarez capitalized on a chance during stoppage time. This win marks Atletico’s second in a row, leaving Valencia with four losses and a draw this season.

In other matches, Athletic Bilbao managed a 3-2 victory at Las Palmas despite being down to 10 men, while Celta Vigo earned its first win of the season with a 3-1 home victory against Valladolid, which has struggled since its opening match.
