Barcelona’s Winning Streak Ends in Shocking Upset Against Osasuna

In Saturday’s Liga match, FC Barcelona aimed to tie their record for the best start to a league season, but they suffered a 4-2 defeat against Osasuna after a run of seven consecutive wins.

Barcelona entered the match with a strong squad despite facing injuries to eight players. However, things took a turn for the worse in the first half, as Ante Budimir scored the opening goal for Osasuna in the 18th minute, heading the ball past goalkeeper Pau Cubarsí. Ten minutes later, Bryan Zaragoza doubled Osasuna’s lead by skillfully maneuvering around Iñaki Peña for a 2-0 advantage.

Following a disappointing first half, Barcelona came out fighting in the second half. A blunder from Osasuna’s goalkeeper Sergio Herrera allowed Pau Víctor to score and bring the deficit to one goal. This goal seemed to shift momentum, especially with the introduction of Lamine Yamal and Raphinha.

However, just as Barcelona appeared to be staging a comeback, they were awarded a penalty when Sergi Domínguez fouled Budimir, who went on to score again for a 3-1 lead. Osasuna further solidified their dominance with a stunning long-range goal from Abel Bretones, making it 4-1.

Barcelona persisted and found the back of the net again in the 89th minute with a beautiful strike from Lamine Yamal, but it was too little too late. Despite their late efforts, including a close chance from Ferran Torres that hit the post, Barcelona could not change the outcome.

With this defeat, Barcelona now shifts its focus to the Champions League, as they prepare to face Young Boys on Tuesday at 9 pm CEST.
