On December 3, coinciding with the International Day of People with Disabilities, FC Barcelona reaffirmed its dedication to accessibility and inclusion within its facilities and services. Throughout the past year, the club’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion department has rolled out a series of initiatives aimed at ensuring that individuals with various physical, sensory, and cognitive conditions can navigate its spaces safely and autonomously.

The club introduced inclusive mannequins in its official stores, showcasing diverse figures, including those in wheelchairs and with prosthetics, to reflect the variety of human abilities. In the Palau Blaugrana, a new area has been specifically created for wheelchair users, complete with additional seating for companions, and an improved online ticketing system for purchasing accessible seats.

FC Barcelona has also worked on enhancing sensory accessibility through modifications made for individuals with hearing and visual impairments on the Barça Immersive Tour. Notable additions include a magnetic loop for hearing aids, multimedia audio guides with subtitles, and noise-cancelling headphones designed for children and those with sensitivities.

The Barça Museum has initiated ‘Hores + Tranquil·les’—special quiet hours designed to provide a soothing atmosphere for individuals with autism and sensory sensitivities, ensuring a more comfortable experience. Additionally, subtitles have been added to the club’s anthem, enhancing enjoyment for those with hearing disabilities.

On the digital front, FC Barcelona has conducted audits to improve accessibility across its content. Employees responsible for this content have received training in graphic design and accessible digital development.

Collaboration with organizations such as ONCE has furthered FC Barcelona’s goal of inclusivity, as seen in unique initiatives like a sensory relief painting for blind children and celebrations of sign language. The club has hosted events that included deaf children and performances in sign language, demonstrating a tangible commitment to involvement and representation.

As FC Barcelona continues its efforts on this International Day of People with Disabilities, it seeks to set new standards in accessibility and engagement, ensuring all people can participate fully in the club’s offerings.

This commitment highlights a hopeful perspective as FC Barcelona leads by example, fostering an environment where everyone can feel welcomed and included. By actively promoting diversity and making significant strides toward accessibility, the club is paving the way for a more inclusive future in sports and society at large.
