FC Barcelona is marking a significant year with the celebration of its 125th anniversary and the 30th anniversary of its Foundation. As part of these celebrations, the club has launched a charity campaign that embodies the essence of “More than a Club,” aiming to strengthen the bond among Barça fans while contributing to a noble cause.
Central to this campaign is the “Polseres Blaugranes” (Blaugrana wristbands) initiative established by the FC Barcelona Foundation. This program seeks to enhance the welfare and quality of life for children and young adults undergoing hospital treatment, as well as for those in palliative care at home.
The campaign features a video that includes players from the Barça professional teams, club and Foundation president Joan Laporta, Dr. Marta Segú, the director general of the Foundation, along with the new mascot, CAT, and Albert Espinosa, the creator of the acclaimed TV series “Polseres Vermelles,” which inspired this project. The collaboration of these well-known figures represents a unified effort to connect the Barça community with this charitable mission.
Throughout the video, participants showcase the blaugrana wristbands, which symbolize the community’s commitment to helping children and young individuals facing severe health challenges. These wristbands are not merely fashionable items; they also signify the support and dedication of the athletes at the club to those in need.
The “Polseres Blaugranes” project partners with children’s hospitals in Catalonia and globally, aiming to prioritize the emotional wellbeing of young patients and their families. It strives to create welcoming environments during hospital stays and promote innovative complementary treatments that enhance traditional care.
Albert Espinosa, who has conquered a childhood illness himself, is actively involved as an ambassador for the program. He will contribute to designing various initiatives while sharing his personal journey with the children and young adults.
Starting from December 20, the blaugrana wristbands will be available for purchase at €9.99, with proceeds directed to the Foundation’s initiatives. While delivery will commence at the end of January, the effort is poised to make a meaningful difference, showcasing the heart of FC Barcelona and its fans.
This heartwarming initiative not only highlights the club’s commitment to social responsibility but also unites its supporters in a common goal, further reinforcing the idea that together, they can positively impact the lives of young individuals facing adversity.
