Barça Expands Retail Footprint with New Store in Madrid Airport!

FC Barcelona’s retail network is on the rise, as president Joan Laporta, along with vice-president Rafa Yuste and other directors, inaugurated the club’s second Barça Store in Madrid during the team’s visit for a match against Rayo Vallecano. The first Madrid store opened in December 2022 and is recognized for its high sales performance among the club’s owned stores. The new store, located at C/Arenal 9 in the heart of the city near the historic Palacio de Gaviria and close to the iconic Puerta del Sol plaza, has become the first official Barça store outside Catalonia.

Spanning 140 square meters, the store will be situated on the first floor of Terminal 4 at Madrid’s airport. This makes Barça the only football club with a dedicated store at Madrid Barajas airport, which is the busiest in Spain. The club anticipates that the new location will attract Barça fans worldwide seeking to purchase official merchandise, including first team jerseys, training apparel, exclusive collections tailored for fans of all ages, and various other club-related products.

Ongoing expansion

With the inauguration of this store, FC Barcelona now operates 14 official Barça Stores, eight of which were launched during the 2022/23 season. Among these are prominent locations in Barcelona, such as Canaletes, Passeig de Gràcia, and Sagrada Família. The club also has stores in El Corte Inglés, including two in Barcelona at Diagonal and Plaza Catalunya, as well as two in Palma.

Following its decision to take direct control of merchandising in June 2018, Barça established BLM (Barça Licensing & Merchandising) to enhance control over its brand and optimize merchandising rights to further its global expansion and develop its retail operations.

The current lineup of proprietary Barça Stores includes:

Spotify Camp Nou, Canaletes, Passeig de Gràcia, Madrid, T4 Madrid Barajas, Centre Comercial Arenas, Poble Espanyol, Barça Store & Exhibition Sagrada Família, Westfield La Maquinista, Parc Central Tarragona, Aeroport T1 (Barcelona), Aeroport T2 (Barcelona), La Roca Village, and Maremàgnum.

Additionally, there are four franchise Barça stores located in Palma, Salou, Platja d’Aro, and at Ronda Universitat in Barcelona.

Relocation of T2 Barcelona store

The Barça Store at Barcelona airport’s Terminal 2 has recently been relocated to a more central area, enhancing the convenience for travelers looking to buy Barça products. This relocation was part of AENA’s strategy to improve services for travelers departing from the Catalan airport, which ranks as the second busiest in Spain.
