Barça Academy Pro Arizona Sends Talented Trio to Train with FC Barcelona

In keeping with their tradition, Barça Academy Pro Arizona has once again sent three talented players to train with the FC Barcelona youth teams. This initiative aims to evaluate their performance and attitude as they embark on a new chapter of their soccer journey. This year’s selected players are Graham Ford, Makai Wells, and Jorge Padilla, all of whom recently participated in the MLS playoffs, a competition that continues to grow in competitiveness each year.

Graham Ford has joined the U16A team, demonstrating his skills again from his previous training camp last year. As a left-footed central midfielder, Ford excels in ball possession, recovery, and game intelligence, making him a valuable asset on the field.

Makai Wells is also training with the U16A squad, with this trip marking his first-ever visit to Barcelona. A right winger who just joined the Barça Academy Pro Arizona last year, Wells shows exceptional passing ability and is particularly effective in one-on-one scenarios.

Jorge Padilla, meanwhile, is training with the U19B team, earning this opportunity after four dedicated years at the Arizona center. Padilla’s performance in the MLS U16 playoffs was noteworthy, reflecting his readiness to learn from peers in Europe. As a right-sided midfielder, he is strong in tackles and has a direct approach to attacking play. His work ethic and dedication have been crucial factors in his selection for this experience.

Established in 2017, Barça Residency Academy Arizona is the only FC Barcelona program currently operating in North America. Located in Casa Grande, the academy provides access to top-tier training methods with onsite FC Barcelona coaches. It features eight soccer fields and a study center affiliated with Arizona State University, and it is notably the only Barça Academy with a team competing in MLS Next, the premier youth league in the United States.

This initiative not only exemplifies Barça Academy’s commitment to developing young talent but also reflects an enriching opportunity for American players to gain international experience and training. Their journey could pave the way for future stars in the world of soccer, fostering a brighter future for the sport in the United States.
