Tens of thousands of Bank of America customers encountered issues accessing their accounts, with some reporting a zero balance. The bank stated that the problem was “largely” resolved by Wednesday afternoon after a surge of outage reports in the morning.
Numerous customers expressed their frustrations on the company’s Facebook page. Upon logging in, some users received messages indicating that account information and balances were temporarily inaccessible. Many reported difficulties in accessing their accounts, with some seeing a zero balance displayed.
“Yep, signed in and said balances are not available, and where the amount should be,” a Facebook user commented. “Hope they get it resolved. People that need money, I feel sorry for them.”
Another user noted, “My credit card balance is there, but my checking and savings balances are zero.”
The outage tracking website DownDetector recorded a significant increase in outage reports on Wednesday morning, receiving tens of thousands of reports by mid-morning. Users from cities such as New York, Chicago, Seattle, and others also reported issues.
Bank of America released a statement acknowledging the difficulties: “Some clients are experiencing an issue accessing their accounts and balance information today. These issues are being addressed and have largely been resolved. We apologize for any inconvenience.”
By 1 p.m. PT, the number of outage reports had decreased to around 3,300, according to DownDetector. Further details regarding the cause of the disruption were not available by Wednesday afternoon.
