Bank of America customers experienced issues accessing their accounts on Wednesday, with many reporting that they encountered $0 balances when logging in. The bank acknowledged the problem, stating that it affected a number of clients but that the situation has been largely resolved.
Reports on Downdetector, a platform that tracks service outages, showed a notable increase in complaints around 12:45 pm ET. Customers expressed frustration over their inability to view account balances, and some who were able to log in were surprised to find their balances listed as zero.
In response to the situation, Bank of America issued a statement confirming that “some clients are experiencing an issue accessing their accounts and balance information today.” They assured users that the issues are being addressed and apologized for any inconvenience caused.
While the exact cause of the glitch has not been disclosed, the bank has not specified when all systems will be fully restored to normal operation. Several employees of CNN with Bank of America accounts reported difficulties logging into their accounts, with one customer stating they saw five accounts showing a zero balance despite having over $20,000.
Other customers shared similar experiences, with some unable to log in while their spouses were able to see their accounts but with no visible balances. Bank of America is currently working to rectify the situation.
