Steve Zheng, who manages the Boynton Beach location, expressed gratitude upon receiving the honor, stating, “It’s honestly a huge honor, and we are so happy about it. It really put some weight behind all the effort that we’ve put forth over these past 20 to 25 years to ensure that we were able to serve our community.” Zheng emphasized the importance of family support during the busy holiday season, noting that his cousins traveled from California and Illinois to help out.
Bamboo Wok’s roots trace back to the Liu siblings, who gained experience working in their uncles’ Long Island restaurant before relocating to South Florida in 2001. The first Bamboo Wok opened in Boca Raton, followed by two additional locations in Coconut Creek and Boynton Beach. This careful planning ensured that the siblings could serve the community without direct competition.
The menu features an array of beloved Chinese dishes including General Tso’s chicken, chow mein, and fried rice, all prepared using fresh ingredients and traditional practices. According to Zheng, the goal has always been to provide quality cuisine through a commitment to consistency and good customer service. Each sauce served at Bamboo Wok undergoes a meticulous preparation process, requiring hours of cooking and days of marinating to develop the right flavor.
Bamboo Wok fans rave about their standout dishes, with many voters praising the orange beef and chicken, sweet and sour chicken, and Hunan beef. Appetizers like spring rolls and crab rangoon have also garnered attention for their delicious flavors.
