QORINIASI Bale is leading the charge at the Goodman Fielder International’s (GFI) Summer Cup 2026, maintaining his top position as the third round commenced in Suva yesterday. Bale has accumulated a total of 15 points, bolstered by a score of 43, following his initial score of 30 points and earning one point in the first round.
In the standings, Mohammed Ishak trails Bale, having scored 3 points in the first round and significantly improving to 13 points in the second round. Close behind is Tom Managreve, who began with 8 points in the first round, followed by a notable score of 39 before tallying another 8 points in round two.
The tournament boasts a roster of talented golfers, including Fenton Lutunatabua, Lusiana Leqa, Gregory Browne, Jagat Ram, Barbara Naisara, Cecil Browne, Viliame Naupoto, and Filimone Jitoko, demonstrating the competitive spirit of the event.
Adding to the golfing excitement, the Fiji Golf Club hosted the GFI-sponsored Friday competition on the previous Friday, which attracted 18 participants. Russell Gibson claimed victory with a score of 20 points, with Eric Browne and Neil Hazelman finishing closely behind with 18 and 17 points respectively.
Earlier in the week, the club also hosted the Stands Beer Run competition, showcasing participation from 23 competitors. Alex Konrote topped the leaderboard with 23 points, while Anil Prasad made a noteworthy comeback to secure second place, also with 23 points, and Sandeep Prasad rounded out the top three with 21 points.
With enthusiasm running high, the Summer Cup and the accompanying events not only highlight the golfing talent in Fiji but also foster a sense of community and sportsmanship, setting an optimistic tone for the upcoming rounds.
