Secretary Abel Caine highlighted that the program will feature competitions across various age groups, leveraging prominent schools equipped with suitable facilities to host these events.
Central to the plan is a partnership with select schools to form dedicated badminton teams, while also encouraging these institutions to share their training resources with other schools. This collaborative approach is in line with Badminton Fiji’s ambitious vision as they prepare for a notable presence at the 2032 Olympic Games in Australia.
Caine expressed enthusiasm for the program, stating, “We’ve got the equipment, we’ve got the coaches, and we’ve got the time for you. Find a badminton-dedicated teacher, allow other schools to share your school premises, and allow some clubs to use these venues after hours, and that way, badminton will have a bright future.”
The initiative serves as a development pathway to identify and nurture new talent, positioning the association to be competitive in upcoming international events.
