Bad Bunny is set to take on a new role in the upcoming sequel to Adam Sandler’s classic film, Happy Gilmore, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. The Puerto Rican rapper joins a returning cast that includes Julie Bowen and Christopher McDonald, who both appeared in the original 1996 comedy. Additionally, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, who is also known for dating Taylor Swift, will make a cameo in an unspecified role. Sandler verified Kelce’s involvement during a recent appearance on the Tonight Show after the NFL player expressed interest in being part of the film on his podcast, New Heights.
Happy Gilmore tells the story of a down-and-out hockey player who discovers his unique talent for golf. He decides to enter golf tournaments to win back his grandmother’s house from the IRS, using his unconventional skills on the golf course. The film has gained significant popularity, with Rolling Stone readers voting it one of Sandler’s best movies in 2014.
Kyle Newacheck, who previously directed Sandler’s Netflix film Murder Mystery, will helm the sequel. Specific details regarding the plot and release date remain under wraps.
In addition to this project, Bad Bunny is also set to star in Caught Stealing, directed by Darren Aronofsky. This film follows a former baseball player who becomes involved in the criminal underworld of New York City and features a notable cast, including Austin Butler, Zoë Kravitz, Regina King, Matt Smith, Liev Schreiber, and Will Brill.
