Minister for Public Works Ro Filipe Tuisawau has commended ministry officials for their diligent efforts in completing and finalizing long-overdue annual reports covering the years from 2019-2020 to 2023-2024. This achievement marks a significant milestone in enhancing governance since the current administration took office in December 2022.

In his remarks, the Minister extended his gratitude to the Permanent Secretary, Heads of Departments, and all staff members who contributed to clearing the backlog of reports. He emphasized the importance of these reports for effective planning, accurate documentation of achievements, and facilitating the auditing process conducted by the Office of the Auditor-General.

Ro Filipe also highlighted the critical nature of meeting parliamentary reporting obligations and recognized the additional responsibilities taken on by officers in ensuring timely completion and submission of these reports. He pointed out that all ministries and corporate statutory authorities are required to present their updated annual reports for parliamentary committee review. This effort boosts transparency, integrity, and accountability within the public sector.

In a forward-looking statement, the Minister announced that the completed annual reports will soon be presented to both Cabinet and Parliament, underlining the government’s dedication to accountability and good governance.
