Minister for Public Works Ro Filipe Tuisawau has praised ministry officials for their hard work in completing and finalizing long-overdue annual reports, spanning from 2019-2020 to 2023-2024. This accomplishment is seen as a significant milestone in enhancing governance since the current administration took office in December 2022.

The Minister expressed gratitude toward the Permanent Secretary, Heads of Departments, and all staff for their commitment to clearing the backlog. He emphasized that the completion of these reports is crucial for effective planning, proper documentation of achievements, and facilitating the auditing processes by the Office of the Auditor-General.

Ro Filipe also stressed the significance of fulfilling parliamentary reporting requirements, acknowledging the extra responsibilities shouldered by officers who played a key role in ensuring that the reports were completed and submitted on time. He noted that all ministries and corporate statutory authorities are expected to present updated annual reports for review by parliamentary committees. This practice enhances transparency, integrity, and accountability within the public sector.

Furthermore, the Minister stated that the outstanding annual reports will soon be presented to both Cabinet and Parliament, reinforcing the government’s commitment to accountability and good governance. This initiative not only reflects a serious approach to public reporting but serves as a positive step forward in improving the operational efficiency of government entities.
