Ba Gears Up for IDC Return at Four R Stadium

Ba Prepares for IDC at Four R Stadium as Fiji Eyes Economic Boost

The FMF Inter-District Championship (IDC) is poised to invigorate Ba’s economy as it welcomes the tournament from October 7 to 12 at the Four R Stadium. This marks a significant moment for Ba, as it hosts a major football event for the first time since Cyclone Winston caused damage to the venue.

Dinesh Patel, the President of the Ba Chamber of Commerce and Industry, expresses optimism about the potential economic impact. The event is anticipated to draw a substantial number of visitors, providing a meaningful boost to local businesses, including smaller enterprises and market stalls.

In preparation for the tournament, the Ba Town Council is making essential arrangements. Moshim Khan, who serves as Chair of the Ba Town Council Board of Special Administrators, announced the installation of temporary floodlights for evening matches. Collaborating with the Fiji Football Association (Fiji FA), efforts are underway to ensure the event’s success.

Coinciding with the IDC, the Ba Football Association will commemorate its 90th anniversary, adding a layer of festivity and importance for both the community and local businesses. This highlights Ba’s readiness to host national events and its pathway toward economic recovery following infrastructure improvements.

As the town anticipates a wave of football fans and visitors, there is a renewed emphasis on utilizing such events to enhance local commerce and community morale. The return of the IDC to Ba underscores the dedication of local authorities and the Fiji FA to improve sporting infrastructure and deliver top-tier events across the region, promoting community engagement and economic growth.
