The opening round of the Western Secondary School Rugby League competition showcased a thrilling array of matches, with Ba Methodist High School establishing a commanding presence in the Ba/Tavua zone. The school marked a remarkable start by winning all four of their matches across different age grades.

In the U15 category, Ba Methodist demonstrated their prowess by overwhelming DAV College of Ba with a decisive 20–0 victory. The Under-17 team exhibited even greater dominance, producing an eye-catching performance that led to a staggering 58–0 win against the same rivals, showcasing both their attacking flair and defensive resilience.

The U19 squad continued the winning streak with a solid 32–6 triumph over Nilsen College, further emphasizing the team’s depth and overall organization on the field. A key factor in Ba Methodist’s success can be attributed to the robust influence of players from the Ba Rugby Academy, whose fitness, skill level, and determination greatly enhanced their performance across all grades.

In other matches on the same day, Nilsen College managed to overcome Tavua District School with an 18–8 win in the U15 division, while Tavua College narrowly defeated Ra High School 18–10 in a tightly contested encounter.

This exciting commencement of the league sets the stage for what promises to be a competitive season ahead, as schools vie for supremacy in rugby within the region. The strong showing from Ba Methodist and their solid foundation as a team may inspire other schools to elevate their game in future rounds.
