Golfers from across the Western Division and beyond are preparing for an exhilarating weekend at the FSC Ba Golf Club, which is set to host two prominent tournaments. Sponsored by Anita Persaud and Tiffany in honor of the late Mr. and Mrs. Gopal, both of whom were well-known for their steadfast support of golf in the Ba community, these events are anticipated to be highlights of the club’s annual calendar.
Kicking off the weekend will be the 2-Men Ambrose Tournament on Saturday, with registration starting at 1 PM and a tee-off time scheduled for 1:30 PM. The entry fee is $50 per team, which includes access to an afternoon social event. Prizes will be awarded to the top ten teams, along with novelty prizes, and players will be required to use six compulsory tee shots as part of the tournament format.
Sunday will bring the Diwali Open, a special tournament celebrating the festival of lights through sport and camaraderie. Registration for this event will commence at 10 AM, with golfers set to tee off at 10:30 AM. An entry fee of $30 per player includes lunch and access to social activities. This event will feature Individual Stroke Play, with awards distributed across all grades, as well as novelty prizes.
Tournament director Rohit Chandra expressed his excitement for the weekend ahead, emphasizing the community spirit that the tournaments will foster. “We’re looking forward to two great days of golf and community spirit. The tournaments will not only bring together regular members and new players but also celebrate the legacy of the Gopal family, who have been true supporters of golf in Ba,” Chandra commented. The director highlighted that the 2-Men Ambrose format encourages teamwork and fun, while the Diwali Open offers a chance for players to showcase their individual skills.
This weekend’s events promise not just competitive spirit but also a chance for golfers to connect and engage in a lively community atmosphere. With the combination of sporting challenge and social activities, participants are set for an enjoyable and memorable experience at the FSC Ba Golf Club. The growing popularity of golf events like these reflects an encouraging trend in community involvement and enthusiasm surrounding the sport in the region.
