Avalanche Lock Up Necas on Eight-Year, $92M Extension

The Colorado Avalanche have made a significant commitment to forward Martin Necas, signing him to an eight-year contract extension that will keep him in Denver through the 2033-34 season. The new deal, reported by Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman, is valued at $92 million and includes an average annual value (AAV) of $11.5 million. Notably, it features a full no-move clause for the first seven years.

Necas, 26, joined the Avalanche earlier this year in a three-team trade that sent star player Mikko Rantanen to the Carolina Hurricanes. Since his arrival in Colorado, Necas has quickly made a mark. In the final 30 games of the last regular season, he netted 11 goals and tallied a total of 28 points. His strong performance has continued into the current season, where through the first 11 games, he has contributed seven goals and 13 points, averaging over 21 minutes of ice time per game.

This extension reflects the Avalanche’s confidence in Necas as a crucial player for their future and signifies their commitment to building a competitive team around talented young forwards. As the season progresses, fans will be eager to see how Necas continues to develop and contribute to the Avalanche’s pursuit of success in the NHL.
