Australian Stockmen Bring Rugby and Community Spirit to Fiji Ahead of Final Match

The Australian Stockman rugby team is set to conclude its tour of Fiji with an eagerly awaited match against the Shop N Save Supermarket Fijian Warriors tomorrow at King Charles Park in Nadi. This contest marks the end of a week filled with training and community engagement for the Stockmen, who held a training camp in Sigatoka while also reaching out to local schools.

During their visit, the players had the opportunity to share rugby skills with students from St. Joan of Arc Primary School and Sigatoka Methodist Primary School, where they also gifted rugby equipment to support these schools’ programs. Team manager Shaun Mackin expressed that the school visits were a highlight of their tour, as the joy on the children’s faces left a significant impact on the players, who were moved to learn that the students would be cheering for them in the upcoming match.

The head teacher of St. Joan of Arc, Waisake Daulako, mentioned that the players’ visit has inspired students and has greatly enhanced the newly introduced Get Into Rugby PLUS initiative, which promotes inclusivity and teamwork. Meanwhile, Rugby Australia’s Pacific Partnerships Manager, Daniel Millis, emphasized that this tour is an essential opportunity to strengthen the rugby bond between Australia and Fiji, marking the team’s first visit to the islands.

The Australian Stockman has traveled across Viti Levu, playing various competitive matches during their stay. Their efforts are supported by the Australian Government through the PacificAus Sports program in partnership with Rugby Australia and Fiji Rugby.

As fans gear up for the match, it will also be broadcast live on FBC TV. This event holds immense potential not only as a showcase of rugby talent but also as a platform for fostering deeper connections between the two nations through sport. The spirit of camaraderie and community engagement shines brightly as both teams prepare for an exciting contest on the rugby field.
