After a successful start, Kasatkina aims for her sixth trip to the Roland Garros third round. She marked her first Grand Slam victory representing Australia by defeating Czech player Katerina Siniakova 6-1, 3-6, 6-2 in the first round. Kasatkina expressed her satisfaction with her performance, stating, “I knew today’s match wasn’t going to be easy, but I’m really happy the way I was able to fight.”
Kasatkina’s next challenge will be against French wildcard Leolia Jeanjean in the final match on Court Suzanne-Lenglen.
De Minaur is also looking to build on his momentum after a comfortable straight-sets victory over Serbian Laslo Djere. He will face Alexander Bublik in a match scheduled for primetime viewing in Australia, starting at 7 PM AEST. De Minaur, currently ranked No. 9, expressed his confidence by saying, “I’m feeling very comfortable on this surface,” suggesting a strong grasp of his game strategy.
Adam Walton is looking to capitalize on his first-round win at Roland Garros when he goes up against No. 17 seed Andrey Rublev after edging out Maximilian Marterer in a remarkable five-set match.
In addition to the singles matches, the day will see several Australians featuring in doubles events. Olympic gold medalists Matt Ebden and John Peers will play their first match at Roland Garros against local wildcards Ugo Blanchet and Kyrian Jacquet. Meanwhile, WTA Rome 1000 semifinalists Storm Hunter and Ellen Perez are set to commence their women’s doubles campaign.
Young talents Cruz Hewitt, Tahlia Kokkinis, and Renee Alame will also make their debuts in junior qualifying, aiming to follow in the footsteps of Emerson Jones and Ty Host to secure a spot in the main draw.
