Auburn University is facing significant changes at the quarterback position as freshman Deuce Knight has decided to enter the transfer portal, according to a confirmed source. This decision marks the third expected departure of a quarterback from the program, joining Jackson Arnold and Ashton Daniels, who together started 11 games this season.

Knight showcased his potential in limited action, appearing in just two games but delivering an impressive performance in his only start against Mercer, where he completed 15 of 20 passes for 239 yards and two touchdowns, while also rushing for 162 yards and four touchdowns. His standout showing fueled excitement among the fanbase regarding his future at the school; however, it seems that his journey at Auburn will come to an end.

This isn’t the first instance of a promising freshman quarterback leaving Auburn—last season, Walker White also transferred away, this time to Baylor. Despite having only played two games, Knight retains four years of eligibility due to maintaining his redshirt status.

With Knight and Arnold both likely leaving the program, the Tigers’ quarterback situation appears critical as they will now rely on incoming freshman Rhys Brush as their sole scholarship quarterback. As the transfer portal opens on January 2 and remains active until January 16, Auburn will need to prioritize adding depth and talent at this key position.

The upcoming transfer window offers Auburn the chance to reassess its quarterback lineup and potentially attract new talent to bolster the team for the next season.
