Auburn basketball faces a crucial matchup on Tuesday night as they host LSU in what will be their final home game of the season. With a current record of 15-14 and 6-10 in the SEC, Auburn is aiming to improve its chances for an NCAA Tournament bid. According to ESPN’s Joe Lunardi, the team is listed among the “last four out” in the latest Bracketology rankings.
Auburn’s season took a downturn after they started strongly, boasting a 14-7 record following a victory over Texas on January 28. Despite hopes spurred by a last-second win against Kentucky, the team has faltered in recent games, losing seven of their last eight, including matches against lower-ranked SEC teams like Oklahoma and Ole Miss.
In contrast, LSU, also 15-14 but struggling in the SEC with a 3-13 record, has faced its own hardships this season under the guidance of head coach Matt McMahon. Nonetheless, Auburn is favored to win, with predictive models from KenPom giving them a 74% chance of victory and projecting a score of 83-76.
Auburn will look to secure this vital win to build momentum ahead of their upcoming rivalry game against Alabama on Saturday, relieving some pressure on head coach Steven Pearl. The game against LSU is set to tip off at 9 p.m. CT and will be available for viewing on the SEC Network.
