Auburn lands five-star Mississippi safety Bralan Womack in 2026 class

Hartfield Academy’s Bralan Womack commits to Auburn, signaling a landmark 2026 class for the Tigers

Hartfield Academy standout Bralan Womack, widely regarded as Mississippi’s top defensive college football recruit in the 2026 class, announced his college choice on Aug. 21, choosing Auburn. The five-star prospect sits as the No. 2-ranked player in Mississippi for 2026 and is the top safety in the class, ranked No. 15 nationally.

At 5-foot-11 and 195 pounds, Womack helped Hartfield Academy win its second straight MAIS Class 6A state title, a 19-14 victory over Jackson Prep last season. His standout performance earned him the 2024 Mississippi Gatorade Player of the Year honors, highlighted by eight interceptions, 39 tackles, 1,126 all-purpose yards and 19 total touchdowns.

Womack trimmed his college list to four, selecting Auburn over Ohio State, Texas A&M and Florida. Hartfield Academy coach Craig Bowman praised Womack, saying he is “a special talent that does not come through often” and emphasizing his selflessness as a defining trait.

The recruitment also featured Womack earning a spot on the 2025 Clarion Ledger Dandy Dozen, joining Hattiesburg’s Tristen Keys as the lone five-star recruits from Mississippi in the 2026 class; Keys is committed to LSU.

Hartfield opens its 2025 season on Aug. 29 at home against MHSAA 4A opponent Columbia.

This commitment reinforces Auburn’s ongoing emphasis on attracting premier Mississippi talent and adds a dynamic playmaker to the Tigers’ defensive backfield, potentially fueling another strong season as Womack transitions to the college level.

Executive takeaway: Womack’s combination of size, athleticism and production makes him a transformative addition for Auburn, while continuing Mississippi’s pipeline to the SEC.
