In response to severe weather conditions brought by a powerful “atmospheric river” storm system, Knott’s Berry Farm and Six Flags Magic Mountain will be closing their doors on Christmas Eve, December 24. This decision has been confirmed on the parks’ official websites.

The National Weather Service has warned that the storm is expected to hit Southern California in several waves, with forecasts indicating that Orange County may receive up to four inches of rain on Christmas Eve. As a precaution, both parks, which typically welcome numerous visitors during the festive season, will be closed to ensure the safety of guests and staff. The storm is anticipated to diminish by Saturday, December 27.

Despite initially planning for a Christmas Day closure due to the holiday, Knott’s Berry Farm will now remain closed on December 24 as well. Magic Mountain, however, is scheduled to be open on Christmas Day. Unused tickets for both parks can be redeemed until December 31, providing flexibility for guests who had planned to visit.

Additionally, Disneyland and Disney California Adventure will also amend their schedules on Christmas Eve, closing early at 11 p.m. and 9 p.m., respectively, to accommodate the incoming weather. In contrast, Universal Studios Hollywood, SeaWorld San Diego, and Legoland California are currently expected to remain open on Christmas Eve, demonstrating their commitment to providing a holiday experience regardless of the rain.

As Southern California braces for this intense storm, it’s crucial for residents and visitors to stay informed and heed safety advisories. While the closures may be disappointing for some, they reflect a responsible approach to unexpected weather conditions, ensuring that everyone stays safe during the holiday season.
