HOUSTON — The Houston Astros are set to rebrand their downtown ballpark from Minute Maid Park to Daikin Park, following a new 15-year naming rights agreement with Daikin Comfort Technologies North America, Inc. This transition will begin with the gradual removal of Minute Maid signage in the coming weeks, paving the way for the official change on January 1, 2025.
Astros owner Jim Crane expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating that their collaboration with Daikin aligns with shared values of excellence in both business and community engagement. “We’ve had the honor and the privilege to spend a lot of time with the Daikin team. They’re truly a world-class organization,” Crane remarked, emphasizing the compatibility of the two brands.
Daikin, renowned for its innovative air conditioning, heating, ventilation, and refrigeration solutions, employs over 98,000 people globally, with a significant presence in the Houston area. With a sprawling campus in Waller, Texas, Daikin’s CEO, Satoru Akama, highlighted the company’s dedication to customer service and community leadership.
The partnership aims to enhance stadium amenities and foster community initiatives that connect the Astros, Daikin, and the local Houston community. “Daikin fit all of the criteria we set out to find in a naming rights partner,” remarked Matt Brand, Astros’ senior vice president of corporate partnerships. The new park will provide a special space for Astros fans for years to come.
While the current Minute Maid branding will remain until the end of 2024, the Coca-Cola-owned company will continue to partner with the Astros until 2029. The first game at Daikin Park is scheduled to open the 2025 season against the New York Mets on March 27.
This rebranding not only marks a significant shift in the Astros’ identity but also underscores the team’s commitment to growth and community involvement, providing a hopeful outlook for both the franchise and its supporters.
