A new listing for the much-anticipated remake of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag has surfaced on the PEGI website, reigniting excitement among fans of the franchise. The entry, titled “Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced,” does not yet include detailed descriptions or the specific platforms for its release. However, it carries a PEGI 18 rating, with tags indicating that the game will feature elements such as violence, strong language, and in-game purchases.

This news comes just ahead of The Game Awards, scheduled for Thursday, where an official announcement regarding the remake is highly anticipated. The existence of the Black Flag remake has been a hot topic for two years, with Ubisoft yet to provide formal confirmation.

Earlier this year, Matt Ryan, the voice of Edward Kenway, hinted at a remake during a fan interaction at a convention but later mentioned that he had to remain tight-lipped about specifics due to threats of legal action from Ubisoft. This hints at some level of certainty regarding the project’s development.

Adding to the speculation, Pure Arts, a statue manufacturer, previously suggested that an Edward Kenway figure would soon be released, indicating that significant developments are underway with the character. During a livestream, company representatives acknowledged they were aware “something is going on” with Edward, implying a connection to the rumored remake.

Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot expressed earlier that players could expect remakes that would allow the company to modernize and revisit classic titles. Reports from French publication Jeux Vidéo Magazine in September suggested that the remake would involve changes to the original’s present-day sequences, replacing them with more immersive content set in the pirate era, thereby extending gameplay by approximately four hours. An additional layer of excitement surrounds the inclusion of new RPG-like mechanics that align with current trends in the franchise, enhancing the inventory, loot systems, combat, and equipment attributes.

As the gaming community eagerly awaits further confirmation from Ubisoft, this latest listing not only bolts excitement for fans but also reflects the company’s strategy to blend nostalgia with contemporary gaming elements. The prospect of re-experiencing the adventures of Edward Kenway with modernized features speaks to both the enduring legacy of Assassin’s Creed and its evolution within the gaming landscape.
