Aspen is bracing for a significant winter storm, with the National Weather Service of Grand Junction issuing a warning for the area and parts of the Western Slope. The storm is expected to begin at 11 a.m. on Monday and last until 5 a.m. on Thursday, bringing heavy snowfall and strong winds.

According to the weather service, Aspen and the upper Roaring Fork Valley could experience snowfall accumulation between 8 to 14 inches, alongside wind gusts reaching up to 60 miles per hour. These severe weather conditions are likely to result in travel disruptions and may complicate morning and evening commutes on Tuesday, as blowing snow can reduce visibility to almost zero at times.

The warning also notes potential dangers related to strong winds, which may lead to fallen trees and other hazards. The affected areas include the Flat Tops, the Elk and Gore mountain ranges, and the Central Mountain Valleys, although specific snow amounts for each location have not been provided.

Residents and travelers in the region are advised to monitor weather updates and exercise caution during this winter storm. With the holiday season approaching, it’s crucial for those heading out to stay informed about conditions that could affect their plans.
