At 43, Ashley Biden is a dedicated social worker from Wilmington, Delaware, with a career focused on mental health and family services. Prior to leading the Delaware Center for Justice, a nonprofit aiding those affected by the criminal justice system, she worked for the Delaware Department of Services for Children, Youth and Their Families. In 2019, she left her role at the Delaware Center for Justice to support her father’s presidential campaign.
Currently, Ashley is pursuing a doctorate in clinical social work at the University of Pennsylvania and aims to establish a wellness facility for women dealing with trauma.
Ashley is the only child of First Lady Jill Biden and is also the sole child shared by the president and the first lady. Jill Biden, who has a background in education, served as Second Lady from 2009 to 2017.
The Biden family includes four children, but only Hunter and Ashley are alive today. Joe Biden experienced the tragic loss of his first wife Neilia and their infant daughter Naomi in a car accident in 1972. Her notable public appearance prior to the convention was in 2020, when a woman named Aimee Harris stole her personal diary and sold it to the right-wing group Project Veritas. Harris later pleaded guilty and received a sentence that included jail time and house arrest.
